I plan on using Blogger or Google Sites for digital portfolios this year. I also intend to upload videos from my Costa Rica trip in November via iPhone to my class blog.
The only problem is that at our school these videos won't load on Blogger or Google Sites (via Google Docs). Yes, you can upload video now to Google docs.
But, all my students see is a white box (no Web Sense message). I brought this to the attention of DIIT and they are looking into it. To view what I am talking about go here:
https://sites.google.com/site/jedcrproject/blog See if the videos play on your school network.
Background.
I will use Zamzar.com do download the video from YouTube.com and then upload to Blogger for my students to view. I has worked in the past. I will create my own videos with iPhone or my Sony Cybershot and upload from my laptop as well. It all works everywhere but in school.
Any ideas?
The mission of this blog and group is to come together to help each other utilize new media to it's fullest advantage as educators. That's why I created this blog. Together we can give the NYC DoE's DIIT the feedback they need so we can leverage the full benefit of new media in our classes, as well as share ideas and solutions to questions about new media in the classroom.

How this can work...
First of all I welcome your suggestions about how to make the mission of this blog and group a success.
We will use the blog posts for introducing new ideas, concerns, requests for help.
However, we have a Google Group that will be great for in-depth explorations, file sharing and archiving of discussion, that a blog cannot do.
